Funding and support for MJRDMS studio initiatives will only be granted to dance studios who are registered, verified, and approved affiliates of the MJRDMS. Dance Studios requesting to become affiliates must meet the minimum criteria and may be subject to additional criteria as set forth by the Board of the MJRDMS. Priority for funding may be given to those Dance Studios demonstrating the most urgent needs aligned with MJRDMS goals at the time of funding, and support to Dance Studios and qualified dancers is subject to the availability of funding. The MJRDMS Board retains absolute and full discretion in its decisions and may reject or prioritize applications as it sees fit and in furtherance of the MJRDMS missions and goals.

The following are the minimum criteria for consideration as an MJRDMS Dance Studio Affiliate. MJRDMS reserves the right to modify the criteria at any time. Supporting documentation to the satisfaction of the MJRDMS Board and staff demonstrating that your studio meets the criteria is required.

  • located in the Greater Houston Area

  • meets the definition of a “small business”

  • BIPOC and/or LGBTQ-owned or BIPOC- and/or LGBTQ-majority (51% or more) owned

  • BIPOC, LGBTQ, veteran, and/or economically disadvantaged enrollment of at least 35%

  • demonstrated dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion [statement required]

  • priority for funding will be given to studios in economically disadvantaged areas or with a majority economically disadvantaged enrollment
